Some marriage proposals are planned in a few days. Others require weeks of secrecy, perfect timing and a lot of quiet coordination. Diego and Javiera’s story was definitely the second kind.
Diego contacted us secretly from Chile before their vacation in the Dominican Republic. To keep the surprise safe, many of his messages arrived late at night, when Javiera was already asleep and there was no risk of her discovering the plan.
The idea was to create a romantic couple photoshoot in Punta Cana that would suddenly turn into a surprise marriage proposal by the Caribbean Sea, with live saxophone music making the moment even more emotional.
During their trip, Diego and Javiera were staying at Iberostar Wave Punta Cana. For the proposal, we chose Uvero Alto Beach, one of our favorite locations for romantic photoshoots, engagement sessions and surprise proposals in the Dominican Republic.

Why choose Uvero Alto Beach for a marriage proposal in Punta Cana?
When couples ask us where to propose in Punta Cana, Uvero Alto Beach is always one of the most beautiful options.
Located in the northern area of Punta Cana, near resorts such as Excellence Punta Cana, Excellence El Carmen, Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana, Secrets Tides and W Punta Cana, Uvero Alto offers wide natural spaces, tropical palm trees and a more peaceful atmosphere than many busier tourist beaches.
Its open shoreline, golden sand and Caribbean scenery make it a perfect location for a private and emotional proposal.
That is exactly why it was the right place for Diego’s surprise.

A couple photoshoot before the surprise
When we arrived at Uvero Alto Beach, everything started as a normal romantic couple photoshoot.
Or at least that is what Javiera believed.
Magda guided them naturally through the session with walking photos along the shore, romantic embraces, palm tree portraits and simple posing directions to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera.
These first minutes are very important during a surprise proposal session. They allow the couple to relax, laugh, enjoy the beach and forget a little about the camera before the most emotional moment arrives.
Meanwhile, the secret plan continued behind the scenes.
The saxophone was hidden in the car so Javiera would not suspect anything. While Magda kept the couple focused on the photoshoot, Pascal Aubrion from Punta Cana Live Music prepared the instrument, the speaker and the romantic songs Diego had chosen in advance.
Everything was ready.

The perfect moment to get down on one knee
After several minutes of photos, the moment we had planned for weeks finally arrived.
Magda asked Javiera to look toward the horizon for one more photograph.
As she faced the Caribbean Sea, Diego quietly took out the ring box behind her.
At the same time, Pascal moved into position nearby, hidden from her view.
The signal had been given.
Then the first notes of "Aprender a Quererte" by Morat began to play, a song carefully chosen by Diego to accompany one of the most important moments of their lives.
Javiera heard the music, slowly turned around and found Diego down on one knee holding the engagement ring.
More than a yes
Javiera’s reaction was immediate and incredibly emotional.
Before she could even answer, tears were already in her eyes.
Diego asked the question he had been waiting to ask, and the answer was a beautiful yes.
They stayed embraced by the ocean for several minutes while the saxophone continued playing their favorite songs.
There were tears, smiles, kisses and the unforgettable moment when Diego placed the engagement ring on Javiera’s hand.
As Punta Cana proposal photographers, these are the moments we love most: real emotion, natural reactions and memories that cannot be repeated.

A proposal with live saxophone music in Punta Cana
What made this proposal especially unique was the live saxophone performance.
Every song had been chosen by Diego before the session, making the surprise even more personal.
As Pascal played by the sea, Diego and Javiera had time to breathe, hug, cry, laugh and truly enjoy what had just happened.
Combining professional photography with live saxophone music creates a deeper and more emotional experience than a simple proposal setup.
It is not only about asking the question.
It is about creating a memory with images, music, emotions and the Caribbean Sea all together in one unforgettable moment.

Celebrating their engagement in the waters of Uvero Alto
Once the first wave of emotion settled, we continued the session with more relaxed engagement photos.
Diego and Javiera walked into the shallow water, showed the engagement ring, laughed together, kissed by the shore and enjoyed the tropical beauty of Uvero Alto Beach.
The final photos near the leaning palm trees were the perfect way to close their story.
During the session, they also shared that they had recently graduated and were beginning their professional lives.
That made the proposal feel even more meaningful.
They were not only celebrating an engagement.
They were beginning a new chapter together.
