A maternity photoshoot in Punta Cana is much more than just an opportunity to capture beautiful images: it's a way to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime moment in one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean. And if you share that experience with genuine people, with laughter, stories, and real moments, it becomes even more unforgettable.
Our experience with Belén and Brandon
We are Pascal (French) and Magda (Uruguayan), the couple behind Puntacanafotord.
I am the driver, host, and proud husband of Magda, the professional photographer. We love creating warm and personalized experiences for each couple who trusts us.
That day we went to pick up Belén (Argentina) and Brandon (USA), a lovely couple who were celebrating the beginning of their pregnancy during their vacation in Punta Cana. Although Belén was only a few weeks along and didn't have a visible bump yet, she chose a stretchy, form-fitting dress that showed off her figure beautifully.
And the photos came out beautiful too!
They also brought along two small baby socks and their first ultrasound as accessories, simple but emotional details.

We picked them up at the Sanctuary Hotel in Cap Cana and headed to Macao Beach. Since we live in the area, we knew that during this time of year many beaches are affected by sargassum, but Macao Beach almost always remains clean and spectacular. Along the way, we shared laughs and anecdotes about life in the Dominican Republic, comparing customs and curiosities between Uruguay, France, Argentina, and the United States. An immediate connection and a very friendly atmosphere were created.
Once at Macao Beach, we began the session in the mangrove swamp and the new wooden bridge, a natural setting that gives the photos a magical feel.

We then walked to the fishermen's area, with its colorful traditional boats and majestic rocks as a backdrop. The lighting was perfect, and the atmosphere was even better. The session lasted between an hour and an hour and a half, and at the end, we all returned to the hotel with smiles on our faces, hugging each other goodbye, and feeling like we had shared something very special.

Why have your maternity photoshoot in Punta Cana?
Punta Cana is an ideal destination to celebrate your pregnancy. Its white-sand beaches, turquoise sea, and the golden light of sunrise or sunset create the perfect setting to capture this intimate and exciting moment. Whether during your babymoon or simply as part of a couple's vacation, a photoshoot in this tropical paradise is a gift you'll cherish for a lifetime.
And the best part is that there's no single "correct" stage for your session. Although many expectant mothers prefer to have their session between 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is rounder and more defined, it's also possible to have a beautiful session early in pregnancy. Belén, for example, was in her first weeks, and even without a noticeable bump, her fitted dress and the emotion she conveyed created beautiful and tender images.
Best beaches for maternity photos
Macao Beach : Authentic, wild, and with spectacular views. Ideal if you're looking for a natural and artistic touch in your images. This is where we did our shoot with Belén and Brandon, combining mangroves, bridges, and the sea.
Juanillo Beach : Quiet, elegant and perfect if you're staying in Cap Cana.
Cabeza de Toro : A hidden gem for those who want total privacy, away from the tourist bustle.
Uvero Alto Beach : A wilder beauty, with abundant tropical vegetation and natural settings that convey adventure and authenticity.
Bayahibe : Calm waters and clear skies, on the southern Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic, offers a consistently flat sea, perfect for a photo shoot.
Tips to prepare yourself
Choose the pregnancy period that inspires you the most : Traditionally, it's between 28 and 34 weeks, but it's not a fixed rule. If you feel good, have energy, and want to celebrate this new beginning, do it whenever you feel like it!
Hydration and snacks : The heat can be intense! Bring water, a small snack, and sunscreen.
Comfortable shoes : Although you'll be barefoot on the beach, it's helpful to have sandals for walking between locations.
Add a personal touch : ultrasounds, baby shoes, baby clothes, or meaningful accessories. Like Belén and Brandon did, these are details that add a lot of emotion to the images.
What clothes to wear?
Long, flowing dresses : They stylize the silhouette and look beautiful in the Caribbean wind.
Also fitted dresses : If you don't have a very visible tummy yet, a stretchy dress that fits the body (like Belén's) can be perfect to highlight your figure and make you look radiant.
Neutral or pastel colors : White, beige, pale pink or light blue combine perfectly with the tropical environment.
Clothes that show off your tummy : Styles like empire cuts help to elegantly highlight your figure.
Coordination with your partner : You don't have to dress the same, but you do need to coordinate your colors. If you're wearing white, he can wear beige, light blue, or soft gray.
